One of my all time favorites to serve when inspiration is at a low is turkey or chicken burgers. This is a hit everytime I serve it, for kids as well as for adults (who usually skip te buns:-)). Ask your local supplier to grind the meat so that all you have to do is add the ingredients. Here is a basic recipe but you can actually add anything you like to customize them to your personal taste.
I personally love the middle eastern touch so I add a bit of harissa. The healthier options can be created by adding more grated or chopped vegetables. Make sure to add only ‘dry’ vegetables as moisture will make the hamburgers fall apart.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Active time: +/- 10 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
- 500 gr. of grinded lean turkey or chicken
- 1 egg
- 2 or 3 cloves of garlic
- one big grated carrot
- 1 large sweet white onion or for a sharper taste 2 or 3 sjalots
- small can of tomato concentrate
- 2 tablespoons of sweet red pepper
- large bunch of parsley
- 2 spoons of olive oil for baking
- 50 grams of oats
- pinch of salt
Schop the garlic and onion. Take a mixing bowl and add all the ingedrients. Use your hands to mix everything and to make hamburgers. Put a pan on the stove and heat the oil. Then add burgers and fry each side 2 minutes. Serve with some harissa, delicious!
You can combine these with anything. A large green salad, fresh buns, some patato salad or a more exotic salad with pomegrate seeds. More recipes will folow soon!
